Paroxetine belongs to a class of drugs SSRI which is a selective and potent inhibitor of serotonin reuptake. It works by increasing the amount of the neurotransmitter serotonin in your brain and body.

It can be helpful in treating symptoms of major depression. It may also be effective in treating depressive symptoms associated with PTSD and OCD. Paroxetine can be used in combination with other antidepressants for premature ejaculation (PME) treatment.
Contraindications
According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) paroxetine should be avoided in pregnancy, people with liver disease should use caution when taking this medication as it may cause further damage to the liver. Individuals allergic to any ingredient of paroxetine should also avoid it.
Dosage
It can be used in a once-daily dose. Its starting dose is 20 mg once daily and its maximum dose is 50 mg daily.

Special Instructions
Paroxetine will take almost 3-4 weeks to start giving the required effects. It can cause symptoms of anxiety in the initial 2,3 weeks. Always consult the doctor before using any drug.
