What is Premature Ejaculation?

Decreased timing of sexual activity due to early discharge is called premature ejaculation in medical language.

Premature ejaculation is defined as ejaculation in less than 1 to 3 minutes of penetration, every time, you make intimacy.

It is a common disorder in men. According to statistics almost every 3rd of man is suffering from this disorder. The majority of suffering men do not visit any doctor due to shyness or considering it a social stigma…..

For those individuals, this article will be very helpful.

PREMATURE EJACULATION CAUSES

KNOW YOUR CAUSE OF EARLY DISCHARGE

There are many causes of premature ejaculation, discussed one by one in the following text.

1. WEAK PELVIC FLOOR

There is a group of muscles in the area of the groin which is collectively called pelvic floor muscles. These muscles can be felt when an individual tries to hold his urine or stop urine while urination.

Individuals who have weak pelvic floor muscles cannot control or hold their ejaculation by contracting this group of muscles during the act of intimacy.

2. WEAK OR UNDERDEVELOPED REFLEXES

The whole process of ejaculation is due to special reflexes, which remain underdeveloped till the person learns when to discharge.

This is commonly seen in young ones, addicted to masturbation, because during masturbation a person is least bothered to delay his ejaculation. So this becomes a habit to discharge early.

3. STRESS

The process of ejaculation is regulated by a group of hormones specifically serotonin, released from the brain.

Due to psychological factors like stress and depression, the release of hormones is affected, due to which early discharge happens.

4. DEPOSITION OF CHOLESTEROL

Increase blood pressure, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, hypothyroidism, and smoking can cause deposition of cholesterol, in arteries of different parts of the body and can affect them, like deposition in the heart can cause a heart attack, and deposition in the arteries of the brain can cause a stroke.

The same concept is for the arteries of the penis when cholesterol deposits in the penile arteries it causes symptoms like erectile dysfunction, painful erection, and premature ejaculation.

If these symptoms are due to the deposition of cholesterol you should get evaluated for Heart disease because there is a high risk that the same cholesterol will be there in the arteries of the heart.

5. NEUROLOGICAL MANIFESTATION

Every nerve of the body gets its nutrition from its little artery called the vasa nervosa. If cholesterol is deposited in this artery it can affect the nerves supplying the penis.

Neurological manifestation can also happen due to damage to nerves (trauma, vitamin deficiency).

6. OVERSENSITIVITY OF THE SKIN

The skin of the penis can be hypersensitive to pleasure touch due to several reasons, excessive friction might be during masturbation, prone masturbation, or can be by default in some individuals or due to abnormal functioning of supplying nerves.

7. IDIOPATHIC

PME can occur in some men due to unknown reasons

Is premature ejaculation curable?

Yes, by using a combination of the following treatment options, one can have increased sex timing.

TREATMENT OF PREMATURE EJACULATION

The approach to the treatment of PME depends upon the causative factor, if it is a medical condition causing PME it should be treated first.

There are several treatment options discussed below.

NON PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT

“Treating any disease naturally, without medicines is called the non-pharmacological treatment”.

1. Healthy Food

The keystone to treating or preventing any disease is by eating healthy food. By avoiding; junk food (pizza, burger, shawarma, etc.), oily foods, carbonated drinks, and excessive use of sweets. And by adding; healthy food like fruits, vegetables, and homemade meals.

2. EXERCISE

Exercise will improve the blood supply of the penis providing it nourishment. It will also help to lower Total Cholesterol in our body, helping in dissolving the deposited cholesterol in the penis.

Exercise should be a combination of aerobic (causing fatigue of muscles) and non-aerobic exercises (stretching etc.)

3. KEGEL EXERCISE

There are specific exercises for premature ejaculation. Kegel exercise is one of them, which will help in making pelvic floor muscles strong and eventually help in delaying ejaculation.

4. CONDOMS

Condoms can be helpful when the skin is hypersensitive. Some condoms are available with light anesthetic agents in the market, which will reduce the sensitivity of penile skin and helps to increase sex timing.

PHARMACOLOGICAL THERAPY

Treating any disease with the help of medicines is called pharmacological therapy. We will discuss available medicines for premature ejaculation in the following text.

1. LOCAL ANESTHETICS

Many, over-the-counter, anesthetizing gels and sprays for premature ejaculation, are available in pharmacies. These can help in oversensitive skin by making it numb and eventually increasing sex timing.

2. SUPPLEMENTS

Our food nowadays is mostly synthetic or processed which results in a deficiency of vitamins and minerals. Daily use of multivitamin+ minerals can help in PME.

Use of L-arginine, an antioxidant has shown good results in penile health.

Likely Vitamin B12 can help in nourishing nerves.

3. Antidepressants

Anti-Depressant drugs, like Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors e.g. paroxetine, sertraline, and Tri Cyclic Anti-Depressants e.g. clomipramine, are the main pharmacological agents used for PME. They act by modulating the serotonin hormone in the brain.

Penile rehabilitation therapy

This is a therapy to make your penile health better, a special gift for those who are going to marry soon. It is a combination of daily use of vitamin supplements, exercise, massage, kegel exercise, squats, and abstinence from masturbation and pornography. This therapy has shown significant results in a duration of 6 months.

Each option of treatment will take time for its results. Be patient, eat natural food, and live a healthy lifestyle.
