Mechanism of Action
Sertraline is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by blocking the body’s ability to absorb and use natural serotonin, which helps to regulate mood, emotions, and sleep patterns.
Can be Used In
Sertraline is commonly used in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, postpartum depression (PPD), and premature ejaculation (PME)
Patients with kidney disease, liver disease, or who suffer from seizures, mania, or suicidal thoughts, should speak to their doctor before using it. Patients who are allergic to ingredients in sertraline should not take it
The usual initial dose of sertraline is 25 mg daily. Its daily maximum dose is 200 mg.

When you first use sertraline, it may take 4-6 weeks (or more) before your symptoms improve. But don’t feel discouraged if you do not see results with sertraline right away; the response may take some time to develop. Some people feel much better after only a few days of taking sertraline, while others take weeks or even months before they notice an improvement.
